Term 1Technology and healthy living  
Learning outcome: To be able to understand, talk and write about vocabulary relating to media and technology in everyday life and how they impact people’s lifestyles; to be able to describe healthy and unhealthy living and give advice accordingly. Per AQA specification: Theme 1: Identity and Culture – Topic 2 – Technology in everyday life Theme 2: Local, national, international and global – Topic 2: social issues (healthy/unhealthy living) Vocabulary: see “Technology and everyday life” and “social issues” sections in vocabulary list in the AQA Mandarin Specification Grammar: all question words and conjunctions

Term 2Education post 16, work and voluntary work   
Learning outcome: Students will be able to understand, talk and write about what people do post-16 and future ambitions, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of different jobs. They will be able to comment on different types of voluntary work. Per AQA specification: Theme 2: Local, national, international, and global – Topic 2: social issues (Charity/voluntary work) Theme 3: Current and future study and employment – Topic 3: Education post 16 Topic 4: Jobs, Career Choices and Ambitions Vocabulary: see “social issues” section in vocabulary list in the AQA Mandarin Specification Grammar: through classwork and homework, the teacher will assess students’ uptake of grammar items as listed in the AQA Mandarin Specification

Term 3Global Issues    
Learning outcome: Students will be able to understand, talk and write about current environment and poverty issues, discuss causes, effects, and possible solutions. Per AQA specification: Theme 2: Local, national, international, and global – Topic 3: global issues (the environment, poverty/homelessness) Vocabulary: see “global issues” section in vocabulary list in the AQA Mandarin Specification Grammar: revision and practice on weaker grammar points
Assessment: Translation: to translate short passages from Mandarin to English and English to MandarinKey Words and Terms
 
Term 4Revision   
Learning outcome: Students will revise all topics and language and should be familiar with the examination techniques
