Term 1Revision of Key Stage 3 content  
Learning outcome: To be able to understand and write an introduction about themselves and their friends and family, including: age, nationality, preferences (of food, drinks, sports and activities) and daily routine. Per AQA specification: Theme 2: Identity and culture – Topic 1: Me, my family and friends Topic 3: Free Time Activities Vocabulary: Greetings, Family members, Numbers & age, Country & nationality, Food & drink, Sports and free time activities, Time & week Grammar: question words, conjunctions

Term 2My studies and future ambitions   
Learning outcome: To be able to understand, talk and write about school subjects and timetable, aspects of school life, occupations and future ambitions. Per AQA specification: Theme 3: Current and future study and employment – Topic 1: My studies Topic 2: Life at school/college Topic 4: Jobs, Career Choices and Ambitions Vocabulary: Subjects, Timetable, School life (school work, teacher, school food, uniform, facilities, classmates and schoolmates), Occupations and future ambitions Grammar: sequencing adverbs, comparatives, future time verbs and indicators, ordinal numbers
Assessment: Writing and speaking (Role Play): Students will write a GCSE style 16 mark writing question and respond to a role play card in speaking. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 3Home, town, neighbourhood and region   
Learning outcome: To be able to describe your home and town, describe locations and distance, to ask and give directions, including transport. Per AQA specification: Theme 2: Local, national, international and global – Topic 1: home, town, neighbourhood and region Vocabulary: Rooms and items in the house, Places in town, Preferences of living conditions, Describing locations and distance, Transport, Give directions Grammar: prepositions to express distance and time, measure words
Assessment: Listening and speaking assessment (photo card) - students listen to a range of listening texts and answer questions in English. The students will be given a photo card and time to prepare for the linked questions for the speaking assessment. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 4Travel and tourism   
Learning outcome: To be able to describe their past holiday experience (including where they went, what they saw and what they did), and express interests in future travel destinations. Per AQA specification: Theme 2: Local, national, international and global – Topic 4: travel and tourism Vocabulary: Countries & nationalities, Traveling activities, Transportation during traveling, Weather, Clothing, Tourist interests around the world Grammar: experience particle, past tense particle, revision (of question words, comparatives, conjunctions)

Term 5Relationship, healthy and unhealthy living  
Learning outcome: To be able to describe people in more details (appearance and personality), to talk and write about relationships and healthy and unhealthy lifestyles. Per AQA specification: Theme 1: Identity and Culture – Topic 1 – Me, my family and friends (relationship) Theme 2: Local, national, international and global – Topic 2: social issues (healthy/unhealthy living) Vocabulary: Body parts, Colours, Personality adjectives, Relationships with people, Healthy and unhealthy lifestyle Grammar: two-part conjunctions

Term 6Festivals and customs & revision   
Learning outcome: To understand, talk and write about how Chinese people celebrate their festivals and traditions.
